"Major Problem"

Throughout the previous years of high school
I did not anticipate my major.
I want a major that provides me fuel,
So I concentrate and prevent failure.

I began to resent mathematics,
Biology is a very broad topic,
Chemistry is thought to be pragmatic,
Physics would be highly catastrophic.

I had no clue as to what I preferred,
Until AP Chem class as a junior.
My colligate future became less blurred.
This caused my friends to call me a loser.

I finally decided what to do,
So I am very thrilled about college.
Chemistry is a major I’d stick to.

"Senior Service"

With the end of my senior year nearing,
I was given an opportunity
To leave school early for volunteering
In order to help the community.

I was given the chance to be exposed
To possible future working settings
That my chemistry teacher had proposed.
The excitement has gotten me sweating.

An internship was difficult to find.
Many employees I talked to were unkind.
It has been a month without any luck.
My mother assisted me get unstuck.

The internship was approved just in time.
Now my worries are silent like a mime.
I cannot wait for senior service to start.

“RU Placement Tests”

I registered for the Rutgers placement tests.
I had to study while my brother rests.
These tests will determine my freshmen courses.
Panic set in to review several sources.
Rumors described the exams as very tough.
I thought a week of reviewing was enough.
I had arrived at the university.
The placement tests were full of diversity.
As the tests progressed, I did not think they were so bad.
The practice problems had prepared me so I was glad.
The Spanish placement exam was my only problem.
It was very confusing, so I just filled the columns.
My results came in, and I passed the exam.
The freshmen classes I placed in make me want to scram.
The one week of studying really paid off.

"Protein Synthesis Project"

Mr. Devereaux’s favorite class
Was recently assigned a project.
I wanted my project to surpass
Other past projects in this subject.

The topic of protein synthesis
Is bewildering and perplexing.
The number of resources is limitless.
Several sources would make it less complex.

I inquired my teacher for advice
To comprehend this complex lesson.
I revisited the class website trice.
My notes became clear in the session.

My project on the topic became very simple
Because the difficulty began to dwindle.
When it was finished, I was satisfied.

Track Meet Injury

At the league championship track meet,
I was excited to compete.
I readied myself at the pit.
I suffered so much pain from it.

After one race and one long jump,
I strained my back after the thump.
I remained laying on my back
Coach sent for help and an ice pack.

When the team returned to the school,
The pain I suffered became cruel.
I became wary of my status.
My back strain became hiatus.

I could not allow injuries thwart my dedication.
I sought assistance from the hospital’s medication.
In hopes of returning before Bergen County Relays,
I rested and applied ice to my back for several days.

After a week of recovery away from practice,
I went to the weight room to prevent injuries like this.
The Bergen County Relays was at the end of the week.
The quick recovery of my back improved my physique.

My physician allowed me to return to sports.
I was able to run again with my track shorts.
