At the league championship track meet,
I was excited to compete.
I readied myself at the pit.
I suffered so much pain from it.
After one race and one long jump,
I strained my back after the thump.
I remained laying on my back
Coach sent for help and an ice pack.
When the team returned to the school,
The pain I suffered became cruel.
I became wary of my status.
My back strain became hiatus.
I could not allow injuries thwart my dedication.
I sought assistance from the hospital’s medication.
In hopes of returning before Bergen County Relays,
I rested and applied ice to my back for several days.
After a week of recovery away from practice,
I went to the weight room to prevent injuries like this.
The Bergen County Relays was at the end of the week.
The quick recovery of my back improved my physique.
My physician allowed me to return to sports.
